As the nation’s largest health insurer, Medicaid (which includes BadgerCare in Wisconsin) ensures that one in three Wisconsin kids can go to the doctor, fill prescriptions, or get treatment for a serious illness like cancer, without their family going bankrupt. This is an especially important source of health coverage for small towns and rural areas nationwide.
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, known as FoodShare in Wisconsin) is the nation’s most important and effective anti-hunger program. It plays a critical role in reducing poverty, improving health and economic outcomes, supporting people who are paid low wages, and serving as the first line of defense against hunger during economic downturns. As many Wisconsin families struggle to put food on the table, SNAP is there to provide critical nutritional gaps.
As Congress takes steps to cut Medicaid & SNAP, we're urging Wisconsin's Congressional Delegates to stand strong and vote against cuts to these critical programs.
