Tell Congress: Budget Bill Must Include Health Tax Credits & Adherence to Funding Agreements

The federal Government temporarily has shut down while Congress tries to come to an agreement on how the federal dollars should be spent. Learn more about the shutdown here. We urge Congress to address the following two issues as a part of any budget deal:

extend the financial help people receive from the Affordable Care Act to make health care more accessible. Without this help, millions of Americans will lose their health care and see their health costs rise substantially; and
ensure bipartisan funding agreements are adhered to, and not illegally withheld by this Administration.

Subject: Renew the Premium Tax Credits for Wisconsin families & Ensure a Deal is a Deal

Message:

As you work to secure a bipartisan agreement and minimize the government shutdown there are two critical issues I'm asking you to address: <br><br>1) Extend the PTC enhancements as part of an agreement to fund the federal government to ensure that people and small businesses have stable and predictable access to affordable coverage in uncertain economic times and when facing rising costs. Weigh in with your leadership to say that you will not vote for a government funding package unless it includes an agreement on extending the premium tax credit enhancements, without any harmful changes, to keep people’s coverage affordable.<br><br>2) Make certain a final government funding deal includes responsible safeguards to ensure the Administration will lawfully implement bipartisan funding agreements so that the funding and services Congress provides reaches the intended families and communities. Insist that any vote in the Senate to cut funding previously approved by Congress cannot pass with just a simple, partisan majority. It takes 60 votes to pass appropriations bills in the Senate, and it should take 60 votes to undo any of that funding.
